The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the untiy of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.
LEADERSHIP AT PRINCE OF PEACE - COMMITTEES
The Church Council consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairperson and Vice-Chair of the five executive committees of the church.
The five executive committees and their responsibilities are:
Evangelism develops a program of evangelism, social ministry, and parish fellowship.
Worship, Music, and the Arts considers matters relating to the congregation's worship and makes recommendations to the council.
Education operates the Sunday School program for children, promotes adult education, and develops the youth program in the congregation.
Buildings and Grounds has the responsibiility for the care of the property of the congregation.
Stewardship prepares the congregational budget and plans the stewardship program for the congregation.
The Ten members of the Church Council are each elected for a term of two years, but elected in the following manner: The Vice-Chair for each committee is elected in May at the semi-annual congregational meeting and assumes office in July. They serve as Vice-Chair for one year and become the Chair of the Committee the following year. The only exception is the Treasurer who is elected at the May meeting but assumes office on January 1st to coincide with the fiscal calendar.
The second annual meeting is held in January at which time annual reports of the pastors and the Church Council are presented, the budget for the upcoming year is approved, and other businesses of the congregation is discussed. Special congregational meetings are held as needed.
